City of Effie June 18th, 2007 Special Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.

Construction Bid Awarded: At the Opening Bid Meeting, seven bidders had bid on the sewer project. Liesch Associates has recommended Wagner Construction, whose bid was $1,402,822. This amount is within our budget allowance. The system should be up and running by November. The city will decide how long citizens have to hook-up to the system. A calendar of important dates should be coming from the contractor. Motion by Matt to accept Wagner’s bid, seconded by Bill, MCU. Matt will be sending off a grant application to Iron Range Resources, applying for funding for compliant systems, businesses, and abatements. There are only a few easements left to collect. Condemnation will begin on those properties.

Liquor License Application: Heidi Gustafson is interested in buying the Neighborhood Tavern. She is applying for on and off sale, Sunday, and 2:00 am licensing. She is requesting approval from the city. Motion by Grady to approve her request, seconded by Bill, MCU.
