Effie, population
90, is a city that prides itself on its good quality of life. "There is an honesty among neighbors and a good sense of family values," explained resident Marcie Lindgren. Welcoming visitors at every time of year, Effie holds several festivals including a celebration in July during the North Star Stampede, a rodeo at grounds just north of the community. The Winter Lovers Festival in February is a joint event shared by Bigfork and Marcell. Also during the winter, the "Wilderness Willie" snowmobile trail connects the city to Northome to the west and the "Effie Connection" to Bigfork to the south. Effie is a member of the North Itasca Joint Powers Board and is proud to be a part of the "Edge of the Wilderness".
