7     “The Club I Never Wanted to Join” breast cancer support group meets 3:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in the chapel, south entrance, Grand Rapids. More info with Lynn (218) 832-3612, [email protected].
9-11  Koochiching County Fair at Northome fairgrounds on Highway 71. See p. 16 for schedule.
9     The Edge Center, Bigfork hosts an Award Reception for artists showing in the Annual Juried Exhibit, 5-7 p.m. with awards about 6:15 p.m.  Voting on the People’s Choice Award will close at 6 p.m. The Juried Exhibit runs from August 8 - Sept 7. Edge Gallery is open 1-4 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
10   Smokey Bear’s Birthday at the Discovery Center just north of Marcell on Highway 38, 11 a.m.
10   Party in the Park at the White Oak Tractor Club ground north of Deer River.  Free and open to all, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

14   ISD 363 South Koochiching-Rainy River School Board meeting, 7 p.m.
17  Backwoods Bash at Blackduck Wayside Rest, 8:30 a.m.-midnight.  5k, food, youth activities, live music and fireworks. More info at www.backwoodsbash.net

23-25   White Oak Antique Tractor Show, 1 mile north of Deer River on Hwy 6.  Daily: Pancake breakfast, parade, demonstrations, displays, music, farmer’s market, flea market and country store.  Drawing for raffle tractor.
